SPPIN sheds light on how the cerebellum coordinates the precision of each step
Walking on uneven terrain requires constant adjustment of movement. In a study published in Nature Communications, SPPIN scientists from team 8 in collaboration with ENS show that the activity of certain neurons in the cerebellum synchronizes with the transitions between the support and swing phases of the mouse’s limbs during a complex locomotor task. This research reveals a new neural mechanism involved in controlling movement precision and sheds light on motor coordination disorders.
